“Once I found out that right after the recording of this album finished the band immediately broke up and one of the members checked into a mental institute, the creepy tension and restlessness of this album made all the more the sense to me. With every listen the claustrophobia closes in and the panic ensues. This is a work of art that to me can never be fully explained as it is original in every sense of the word. Every riff and progression of the songs are slow, icy and chilling to the max. With it presenting this ominous feeling of dread and paranoia that traps the air in my lungs and leaves me gasping for air by the end of the record. Which only then does it all settle in and I realise 'holy shit this is one of the best things I have ever listened to'. Sssssssssssiiiiiiickkkkkk album”

“My favourite album ever. This thing is a masterpiece. It's a mindfuck in the way that Hendrix's music was, it takes guitar driven music in a totally different direction than anything that came out before it and turned up to the max. Not much else in the noise rock landscape is so unabashedly brash without losing sight for a second of their energy and witty lyricism. It is an absolute perfection of itself and everything Sonic Youth were working towards. To this day no album in the broad sense of the genre has ever topped this and nothing Sonic Youth have ever put out comes close. I would consider this album to be one of my best friends.”
