My favourite album ever. This thing is a masterpiece. It's a mindfuck in the way that Hendrix's music was, it takes guitar driven music in a totally different direction than anything that came out before it and turned up to the max. Not much else in the noise rock landscape is so unabashedly brash without losing sight for a second of their energy and witty lyricism. It is an absolute perfection of itself and everything Sonic Youth were working towards. To this day no album in the broad sense of the genre has ever topped this and nothing Sonic Youth have ever put out comes close. I would consider this album to be one of my best friends.
