Apparitions is a challenging one to interpret. Besides the remarkable vocals and that pure piano melody, the lyrics bounce around. From seeing things (ghosts or "apparitions") watching you, to old stifling memories arising to haunt, ending with a shameless remark about not giving up and not giving in. One way you can look at it is that all these old negative remarks people have made over the years slowly chipping away at the self esteem over time. And that even though they still cling around despite all the hurdles and achievements, you can still choose to sing and dance. In your own pride, in your own sweat, in your own tears. Despite what anyone says or thinks, only you can speak for your own work.
