Do That Again

Malcolm Todd

the take

i was so very very hyped for this album to release, and upon listening i was hit with an unpleasant surprise; it’s all mid it kind of feels like he’s trying to do some different things in his songs as there’s like new instruments and whatnot without abandoning that malcolm todd sound that is present in all his songs but it just came across to me as a whole bunch of songs that are not very different, there’s no song that really stuck out to me as my definite favorite on the album with that being said, none of the songs are really that bad per say (except for good bye), they all have the aspects of a generic malcolm todd song which makes them enjoyable to listen to, but that’s kinda what disappoints for me. my favorite malcolm todd song is Make Me A Better Man because it has more diversity from other songs he makes and let’s just be honest, it’s a frickin banger. i was really hoping he was going to make another standout track that was gonna be one of my favorites, but i was just left with Breathe and I Saw Your Face still being, in my opinion, the better tracks on the album. another thing is that there’s just a lack of like creativeness i guess in the lyrics. LOTS of the lyrics are a lil too freaky for my taste, and it’s really just kinda boring to listen to him whine about women (and men, maybe? idk) for like 35 minutes. with all this criticism being said, it definitely isn’t a terrible album. it’s just also definitely not his best work yet. i like and it will be revisiting it, but it’s really just doesn’t stand out to me that much favorite songs: Breathe, I Saw Your Face, Malcolm In The Middle, X’s and O’s not so great: Good Bye, Lonely Song thanks
