NO HANDS (Deluxe Edition)
“A part of me really needs to follow my own advice more often and never judge ̶a̶ ̶b̶o̶o̶k̶ an album by its cover. For the most part of last year, I've seen people here on Musicgram praise this album but I never really had any interest in it. Partly because I thought it would be really cringe. Holy shit, was I wrong. "NO HANDS" is such a fucking fun album. This album pays homage to different eras of urban music and each song doesn't sound generic at all. With that, I never knew which sound to expect going into each song, but 10 times out of 9, I ended up enjoying it (with me getting hype 10 times out of 10). It also helps that both Joey Valence & Brae brought humorous lyricism while still giving off that great rapper energy. If they weren't trying too hard, they did amazing at being inconspicuous about it. Instead, they gave us one party record that goes through the (musical) motions. It's hard to pick a definite standout favorite on this one, but "WHERE U FROM" is the one that fully convinced me to continue listening, although the preceding songs were just as good. I hated that it took me until now to give this album a listen, but I'm glad I finally gave this a chance, as "NO HANDS" may or may not be in heavy rotation for a while.”

PUNK TACTICS
“When I was recommended Joey Valence & Brae's "NO HANDS" a year ago, I was uncertain whether it would be worth listening to. I actually ended up enjoying that project, and after seeing JVB perform in my city earlier this year, I've decided to give their discography a peek. Everything that I said about "NO HANDS" (ex. being a fun listen) also applies to "PUNK TACTICS", although the latter is slightly rough around the edges production-wise. That's what makes a great evolution to see in their career, and that's what made this album just great in its own right. JVB made sure to make this a fun record, and I can tell that they had a great time making this album. A part of me kind of gets the modern-day-version-of-Beastie-Boys vibe while listening to this one in particular, especially on tracks like "PUNK TACTICS", and "WATCH YO STEP". The beats, the lyricism, the flows, the aesthetic... it's a breath of fresh air to have two rappers not being too serious while still appreciating and respecting the craft while pushing the genre's boundaries, especially in a time where everything else sounds monotonous in comparison. "RN" and "DROP!!" are easily my top-two favorites on here. And while I still have "NO HANDS" in high regard, "PUNK TACTICS" is a fun debut by JVB that I wish I listened to this sooner, especially because it gets me necessarily hype.”
