Mountain Music (The Summit)
“I completely forgot about Nina Nesbitt. I remember coming across her name and her music around 2019, when her sound was a bit more pop-oriented. It's rather unfortunate that I couldn't get all too much into her music, but I always told myself that I'll give Nina'a music another chance. That chance really never came, but somehow I came across her name again via a deluxe album to an album she released late 2024. In terms of my interest level in Nina Nesbitt's music, it's more of the same: it's cool but not really anything that'd grab me to become a legitimate fan. Instead of a more pop-focused sound, we have more of a folksy-pop vibe here, which isn't bad by any means. The songwriting on here is actually the highlight of the album, accompanied by Nina's incredible vocals throughout. If anything, that's what made me interested in finishing the album, as songs like "Mansion", "Treachery", and "Painkiller", as well as deluxe bonus track "The Mountain & the Man" were all a bit too relatable and hit a bit close to home. I guess the problem I have with this album is really the production on here. It sounds a bit too monotonous and "same-y" for me, with little to no variation between the songs on here. Listening to this album really felt like one long continuous song to me, which isn't exactly a terrible thing, but one that dings the album a bit for me. "Mountain Music" is an album I still enjoyed more than I anticipated. Hell, maybe this'll finally get me to discover what I missed out on Nina Nesbitt and her music. Only time will tell, though.”
