“i really don’t have words for this record. this is an ALBUM. every song fits into the overarching theme of the project - nothing is out of place. “I Know You’re Hurting.” and “Fields.” might be a bit more difficult for me to get through, but they are far from being bad songs or worse, filler songs. this album got me through one of the hardest moments of my life and it truly does contain hope. of course, “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” has to be the highest point in the general public’s consensus, but when it starts off with the intro track, then “I Will Overcome.”, “Beware… The South London Lover Boy.”, “The WhatsApp Shakespeare.” and “Winter Woman.”… that’s such an insane first 15 minutes already. RAYE has such an unmistakable talent for making the listener feel the emotions behind her songs so viscerally, it’s hard not to immediately be immersed in the world she’s built with this album from the very moment it starts. unless Ariana Grande pulls something really special with her upcoming album, “petal”, i have no doubt that THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE stands a very good chance of being my album of 2026.”

“this is more of a cinematic / musical experience than a music album. the orchestra and arrangements, as well as raye’s powerhouse voice were great. first half was a fun listen. however, personally, i got tired of listening to the storytelling / speaking-type orchestral style of raye in the 2nd half. it felt repetitive. and it felt like a rerun of the same emotions - happiness, hopelessness, finding hope, then losing hope cycled through twice. and some songs were reaaally long. i appreciate that in this era of shorter songs, but again, i got tired of listening to it after a while. this is rated 7 for its objectively good composition, and i feel raye’s passion in this project! i see how this would be an amazing album to experience live - but personal taste wise i need more variation and less talking”

“Extremely good and carefully made. Only worth listening if you listen to it in one hit. This music is certainly not for everyone, I imagine most of my mates would dislike this. It’s genuinely like an audio movie. The themes that come out of it are amazing and very clear. Descriptions around loneliness, depression, messy relationships, feminism, and the reality of life are all very powerful messages. As someone who hasn’t really been a major Raye fan, this is a sensational album and I am blown away by the creativity and performance. Overarching jazz, classical, and house vibes. Absolutely loved it!”
