Fossora

Björk

in my opinion this is the most cohesive and enjoyable of Björks post-divorce catelogue. Vulnacura and Utopia are both incredible but my ears get slowly sick of them overtime. They are slow and beautiful and the sonic landscapes they create are diverse and seamless, yet in ways stagnant. Fossora doesn’t have these issues. Every song sounds in conversation with the others yet all offer such distinct vibes and subject matters. You have a lengthy string ballad with staccato beats in ‘Ancestress’, right next to the trip-hop bass clarinet masterpiece of ‘Victimhood’. Björk ventures into her Utopia sound on ‘Allow’. ‘Fungal City’ is a pop banger literally sounding like mushrooms bursting through the wet forest floor. These latter songs are collaborations and Björk sounds so good next to two other distinct singers. By far my two favourite tracks are the Kasimir produced ‘Atopos’ and ‘Fossora’. These songs are so strange yet such club hits. The heavy heavy bass on top of bass clarinets and flutes sounds insane. Even the musical interludes here are incredible. Trölla-gabba blew my fucking mind ive never felt so put on edge by a song in my life. 10/10 Album Fav Tracks:
