May It Never Falter

glaive

“May It Never Falter” was glaive’s first album since “i care so much that i don’t care at all”, which was his worst received project to date. In this project, he expands on his older “hyperpop-esque” sounds, but with new matured vocals. This shows especially on tracks like “Nobody’s Fault // Accept My Own”, “EVERYDOG HAS IT’S DAY”, & “Count It Up”. It’s hard to place this album - or any of glaive’s music - into a genre, even he’s stated that he literally “just makes music”😭. The album starts off with debatably it’s strongest song, “For God & Country”, with a piano introduction in the first half, then randomly hitting you with an intense bass popping out at you at the midway point. This sound amazing, but the song really shines with it’s lyricism. Then tracks like “60.000ISK”, “Count It Up”, and “ik” all flow together and give a similar vibe. They give a modern hyperpop sound with lyrics that really shine, but the most impressive things about these three are the instrumentals. We then get thrown into the next track about his late friend “Joel”. “joel” instantly sets a tone switch for the album, with a sad acoustic guitar and it’s made clear instantly that glaive put his all into this song. Generally, there’s only one song, “Live & Direct” that I don’t find myself coming back to. “Knock, Draw, Release” is another lower point for the album, it’s a sincere, honest song, that’s honestly a perfect interlude, but some could find it repetitive & I could not blame you. “EVERYDOG HAS IT’S DAY” is literally just crazy, no words. You NEED to hear this song live. “Freudian”, combines his older hyperpop sound with a sort of rap style flow that we’ve seen more of on later tracks like “victoria beckham freestyle” and “It Is What It Is”. “Nobody’s Fault // Accept My Own” starts off with soft vocals and an intensive bass, that subtly, but smoothly turns into a very intense song hitting you in the face, “By Birthright” is a solid outro but a year 1/2 later, had lost replayability.
