Hurry Up Tomorrow
The Weeknd
“Review: Hurry Up Tomorrow – The Weeknd First listen and omg… the TRANSITIONS??! 😭 il est fou Wake Me Up (8/10) opens the album super cinematic, literally sounds like a Marvel villain soundtrack and the high notes at the end are crazy. Cry For Me (9.5/10) starts with an afro-inspired prod that weirdly gives K-pop vibes?? + the lyrics are sooo good, I can already see the bridge blowing up on TikTok. Then I Can’t F*ing Sing (10/10 capped lol) as an interlude is just chaotic and funny before São Paulo (10/10) which has one of the best transitions ever 😭⁉️ like how does he do that. Until We’re Skin & Bones and Baptized in Fear (both capped at 10/10) are emotional peaks, slower and darker, with the breathing effects and lyrics hitting HARD (I almost cried ngl 🥲). Open Hearts (10/10) flows so smoothly I didn’t even realize another song had started. Some tracks like Opening Night (5.5/10) and Reflection Laughing (7.5/10) slow things down a bit, but then Enjoy the Show (10/10 capped) comes in all smooth and sweet like honey 🍯. The second half keeps the dreamy vibe with Timeless (9.5/10), Niagara Falls (8/10) and Take Me Back to LA (8/10). The real highlight though is The Abyss (10/10 capped) featuring Lana Del Rey — soft at first but it builds into something huge. Finally Hurry Up Tomorrow (10/10 capped) closes the album beautifully, almost like a goodbye from The Weeknd 😔⭐ and the fact that it loops back to High for This (his first ever track) is just… perfect. love you Abel メ𝟶 ❤️🔥”

“First listen of the album (no lyrics). First thing I noticed: the sound is SO different from what he usually does, and electro is clearly everywhere. Aperture already sets the tone. The jersey club-ish intro is a banger and such a good teaser. At first I struggled a bit with how his voice sits on the prod, but once it settles it flows perfectly. Also the “aperture” camera/light reference is kinda clever lol. American Girls starts with really good bass. The vibe is cute, very spring funk. I’m not fully sold on the chorus yet, but the bridge feels weirdly cosmic. Ready Steady Go surprised me the most. It’s very different for him and honestly one of my favs already. The bass, the bridge repeating “ready steady go”, and the keyboard notes at the end… banger. Are You Listening Yet has that spoken voice delivery that kinda gives Wet Leg energy. Chorus isn’t my fav, but the guitar solo + bridge go crazy. Taste Back is easily a highlight. Super soft pop, like Daylight’s little sister. The harmonies and vocal runs are beautiful and it just puts you in a good mood. The Waiting Game feels more like his classic chill vibe, very comforting. Then Season 2 Weight Loss brings back the funk with amazing synths and a super catchy chorus that will probably hit in concerts. Coming Up Roses is the emotional moment: violins, waltz vibes, very pretty. Then Pop switches the mood with a catchy electro pop-rock energy. Dance No More feels chaotic and cinematic, not my fav. Paint By Numbers is fine but less memorable. Finally Carla’s Song closes the album nicely. The prod slowly builds and the bridge + ending feel almost transcendent. A beautiful final note. 🎧✨”

“First listen (sans paroles): Sexo, violencia y llentas (8/10) kicks off with an ancient music feel, full orchestral launch = 😭 chef’s kiss. Reliquia (6/10) has cute violins, ballad energy 🌸, voice = immaculate, angelic ending. Divinize (10/10) insane build-up, English-Spanish mix, flamenco vibes — “outsiiiide me, insideeee me” vibes cinematic AF. Porcelana (5/10) threw me off with spoken/rap style, kinda Disney-villain energy, feat saves it. Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti (11/10) opera queen moment 🫦, full Garnier energy, chest & head voice transitions, orchestral finale = chills. Berghain (7/10) single that got me hyped, opera style suits her. La Perla (10/10) love marches/balads 🥹, springy vibes, piano potential, features elevate it. Mundo Nuevo (7/10) Disney-villain vibes again lol, still pretty, transitions subtle 😭. De madrugá (10/10) promo Reels sound? Second part = chef’s kiss. Dios es un stalker (10/10) wild title 🙏🏾😭, key changes, solid groove, perfect for album balance. La Yugar (8/10) can’t check lyrics, still love the build-up & small message. Sauvignon Blanc: title hype in French but sound bof… (j’ai pas écouté tout l’album donc la review sera complétée plus tard) xoxo”
