Salvation for the Wicked

Ransom

the take

On paper, this had the feeling of a great project from the jump. For one, Boldy James and Nicholas Craven haven't missed yet on their collab projects from years past. And Ransom has one of my favorite projects from last year featuring production by Conductor Williams. That said, I was both caught off-guard and excited to see how this would be. But to be perfectly honest, this feels more like your standard Boldy James and Craven project with Ransom tagging along. It feels foul for me even to put it like that, but that's the vibes I got while listening to this. Quickly glancing over how Craven's production doesn't sound as engaging on her as per usual, Boldy James still sounds comfortable in his lane rapping in his signature style that suits him best. As for Ransom, he tried to match the others' energy with his performances, but more often than not it drags the bulk of these songs down. "SINNERS" and "COLLECTION PLATES" are among the best on here, while the rest is just alright as a whole. A few bright spots on here, that's guaranteed. And while I wouldn't call this a miss (by my own definition), this isn't one I'm likely to go back to on my own in the near future.
