BIDNESS IS BOOMIN

Shoreline Mafia

the take

Not even long after Shoreline Mafia reunited for their "Back in Bidness" album, which I actually quite enjoyed to where I attended their concert here in my city that accommodated said album, OHGEESY and Fenix Flexin spun the block to let us know that "BIDNESS IS BOOMIN". And actually, I can see that. This EP is essentially more of the same like their album from last year, although with a bit more experimentation on the beats given to them and even though both the subject matter and flows aren't anything derivative from what I've heard before. One thing that stands out is the samples they used to help bridge the gap between old school and new school to create an environment that's definitely reminiscent of Los Angeles party culture. The hit single "ROCKIN" and "TAKE U HOME" are perfect examples of that, as well as those being in my top three of the whole project. "WOOD WIRE BUFFS" and "OUT MY MIND" has the duo experimenting with tracks that have a higher tempo than one would expect with their music and while I'm a bit on the fence about it, I can't help but appreciate them trying some new things. However, "PLAY BALL" stays true to form with their recent output and is the best one on here for me. "BIDNESS IS BOOMIN" doesn't do anything to differentiate from their album last year, but Shoreline Mafia still managed to keep my interest and my head bobbing with this brief project I find great.
