The Pleasure And The Greed
“If Big Wreck ended the album at Ladylike, it’d be one of the greatest albums of all time. Unfortunately they overstay, and end up with a lot of filler in the back half. It’s a polished, muscular alt-rock record that leans heavily on its musicianship to carry a somewhat uneven conceptual identity. Ian’s guitar work is the undeniable centrepiece. The band moves effortlessly between heavy, riff-driven passages and more spacious, melodic moments, giving the album a dynamic push and pull that keeps it engaging even when it drifts. Lyrically, it’s more hit-and-miss. There are flashes of introspection and emotional weight, but much of it feels vague or generalized, more concerned with tone than specificity. The album gestures toward a loose concept but never fully commits, leaving it feeling thematically blurred rather than cohesive. Still, the sheer strength of the playing and production elevates it. It’s a record you feel as much as you understand. Fav Track Inhale”
