The Panic Years
Bradley Simpson
“ALT ROCK/POP HEAVEN! I am so glad this app finally lets you review albums just so I can review this album on a whole new platform. Simpson is a lot of things, but untalented is not one of them. From the opening strum of that electric guitar to the closing scream, this album is perfect. Simpson, a boybander, had so many layers to unwind in an album that has over ten years of stories to tell. Each one may be simple, but the grit in his rasp to the scratchy guitar riffs bring out a feeling like no other. If I could equate this album to a person, I’d say it reminds me of Dog the Bounty Hunter. Just a man’s man, but somehow complex in ways I don’t really want to understand. Do I think someone with an undiagnosed mental health problem created some of these insane backdrops…yes, but again I’m not mad at all. If you aren’t going to take my word for it, just force yourself to listen to three of these songs. ‘Daisies’ to ease you into what Simpson is capable of on a fun, lighthearted track. Then try out ‘Picasso’ to get a little more edge. (“Trying out some blue for the Teen Vogue party” vibes for sure). And then rip it with ‘Getting Clear.’ That song just absolutely fucks. From the high notes to the guitar shreds, a perfect rock anthem. But the greatest song on the album, which I want to hide for myself is ‘Not Us Anymore.’ Just the perfect blend of everything good in life, telling such an awful story of losing the love you once had. Best tracks: Not Us Anymore, Daisies, Picasso, Carpet Burn, Getting Clear, The Band’s Not Breaking Up”

Baby
Dijon
“The voice of MY generation. Dijon made a perfect album four years ago and proceeded to follow it up with an even more perfect album. This project is a shot to the feelings that seem so fleeting. There is hooting and hollering and then there’s that itch that Dijon just scratches. Raw and real in every single delivery, this album hurts and kicks ass all at the same time. Beats that only Dijon could work with and sounds only he could grumble up. This album is without a doubt a modern masterpiece. Everything Dijon has touched has turned to gold and this album is an exact representative of that. Best songs: Baby!, Yamaha, Rewind, my man, and Automatic are the standouts. But no matter where you find yourself in this album it’s just perfection.”

Ella Langley
“Get me in some assless chaps and throw me on a bull right fucking now! This album is twangy and fun. This album is girl country. This album is what Carrie Underwood thinks she did on her last five albums that no one listened to. Langley has the voice of a woman who smoked the right amount of cigarettes and can function a vehicle while awfully close to that legal limit. From the hits like ‘Choosin’ Texas’ to ‘Loving Life Again’ we knew there was bonafide star in the making. But what buried me six feet under were the B-tracks. What do you mean songs like ‘Speaking Terms’ and ‘Broken’ were never meant to be standouts?!? Those songs, much like the guy who clocked me at the bar, knocked me flat on my ass. She’s got a tone and delivery that’s one of one and I pray she never strays away from it. I know it’s a fad to be an Ella Fella, but I’m proud as hell nonetheless. Best tracks: Dandelion, Low Lights, Loving Life Again, Broken, Speaking Terms, and Most Good Things Do”
